atlanta hotel in the city

atlanta hotel in the city

Few cities in the United States have changed as much as Atlanta has over the past few decades. This once quiet southern town has become the headquarters of the “New South” and is now the economic machine that drives this entire region. Atlanta was already a worldwide travel destination long before the city played host to the 1996 Summer Olympics. That event allowed city planners to build even more world class facilities and the Olympics played out as a 2-week advertisement to people from all over the world. Needless to say, the publicity worked, and everything from the population to the economy to the city’s reputation has grown significantly since then.

he first thing that most people notice about Atlanta is the hills. Atlanta actually has the second highest elevation of any metropolitan city in the United States, second only to The Mile High City of Denver. The hills add a beautiful and unpredictable aspect to the landscape, but it also renders walking here, at least for long distances, extremely difficult. Staying in the downtown core of the city and walking there isn’t too difficult, but if you are hoping to explore any of the outlying areas, you are going to need to get to know the transit system or simply give in and rent a car like most folks do when they visit here.

ime coping with the growth in some ways. The city often finds itself at or near the top of the list when it comes to days with severe air pollution as well as a city known for legendary gridlock on the highways surrounding downtown. However, these are small time issues when you consider everything this city.hop on the next flight to beautiful Atlanta today.
